Free REPORT: 6 Ways to Tame Your Appetite & Cravings
Ketosis is a metabolic state characterized by raised levels of ketone bodies in the body tissues, which is typically pathological in conditions such as diabetes, or may be the consequence of a diet that is very low in carbohydrates. It is a normal metabolic process, something your body does to keep working, when it doesn’t have enough carbohydrates from food for your cells to burn for energy, it burns fat instead. As part of this process, it makes ketones.
Some people choose to include a period of fasting in their KETOGENIC eating plan because it can help you get into ketosis faster by depleting glycogen stores rather quickly and with an increase in the amount of fats being consumed, fasting may feel easier because you will be more satiated with less food.
Some things you may experience when fasting while following a ketogenic eating plan are extreme fatigue and low energy but these are usually on short term symptoms and many people report having an abundance of energy following a KETO-FASTING protocol
If this is something of interest to you I would like to say that while FASTING can have some impressive benefits I do not advised it as a long term thing. I definitely recommend talking to a registered dietician or nutritionist to help you plan out your fasts to get the best results and not cause any potential metabolic upsets.
Honestly if you are getting 7ish hours of sleep a night you have fasted for 7 hours already. You DO NOT need to go another 8 – 10 hours without food. That would have some very adverse effects on your metabolic function if you kept it up every single day.
So how can you best use a fasting SCHEDULE to get into ketosis?First, pick what day you are going to begin. Skip breakfast & lunch, but make your next meal keto-based. OR . . . start your day with a keto-based breakfast & skip your next 2 meals. And make sure you are drinking LOTS of WATER!
Hint: taking MCT oil prior to starting your fast MAY help you get into ketosis quicker.
*** While fasting is safe for most people always check with your doctor first!
