In this video, Dr. Berg talks about how to know you’re in ketosis. As you use ketones urine strips over time, the body is going to be more efficient and you’re not going to have ketones at some point because the body is using them as fuel. The goal is not to always show ketones in the urine but to get healthy by doing healthy ketosis. He also talks about the maximum amount of ketones our body could produce in a given day.

How to Know If You Are Doing This Correctly?
• Cravings – Are the cravings gone completely?
• Hunger – Is your hunger a lot less between meals?
• Energy – Is your energy going up?
• Waist Size – Is your waist shrinking?

150g/day – the maximum amount of ketones our body could produce in a given day. The other fuel that the body is burning is fatty acids. It is not all ketones, there is a combination of ketones and a lot of fatty acids.

So I had another question from someone who wanted to know, how do I know I am in ketosis? Now they are using these urine strips to detect ketones but here’s the thing as you do this overtime your body is going to be more efficient and you are not gonna have ketones anymore at some point. Why? Because your body is using them as fuel. So our goal is not to always show ketones in the urine, the goal is to get healthy by doing healthy ketosis and being efficient by burning all those ketones out. How do you know if you are getting healthy? How do you know if you are doing this correct? How do you know if you are being successful? The number one thing is your cravings. Are the cravings gone completely? Then we know it is working. Are your hunger a lot less between meals? How was your energy? Is it going up? Then that’s really good indicator. And your waist size, Is it shrinking? Very important indicator because the other point I want to make is that, the maximum amount of ketones you can produce in a given day is 150grams and basically that is about less than half of your overall fuel. Now you are only gonna be burning a little bit of glucose that you can make from the protein you eat and even the fat that you eat but the other fuel that you are gonna be burning is basically fatty acids. It is not all ketones, there is a combination of ketones and a lot of fatty acids. You are probably not testing for fatty acids. The point is you want to focus on your health, and these are the indicators to know that you are doing it successfully. So the goal is not just to have excess ketones in the urine because that doesn’t tell the whole picture. Alright, thanks for watching!
